MAIN ADVENTURE BEGINS – AN IRISH WELCOME
Travel today by your own international flight arrangements from your home airport into Shannon International Airport (SNN). Welcome to The Emerald Isle with the Irish expression of “Cead Mile Failte” (a hundred thousand welcomes)!
After clearing passport control through Customs & Immigrations, please proceed to claim your luggage at your designated airline baggage carousel. You will then exit through the Arrivals Hall, where a representative from Brendan Vacations will meet and escort you to the waiting vehicle. Depending on your departure location, most flights from the USA will arrive into Shannon in either the late morning or afternoon timeframe. Transfer from the Shannon airport to the Ashford Castle. IMPORTANT NOTE: There will only be two transfers (one in the morning and one in the afternoon that will align with all international arrival flights accordingly; as such guests will be grouped into either the morning transfer or the afternoon transfer depending on your flight arrival timeframe. This is due to the 2-1/2 to 3-hr drive to Ashford Castle from the airport).
Majestically located along the glistening waters of Lough Corrib in County Galway, the historic medieval and Victorian Ashford Castle dates back to 1228, and beckons all who enter it into an authentic mesmerizing Irish wonderment. This 800-year-old historic structure is truly a remarkable and grand significance to Ireland. The former home of the Guinness family, it has hosted countless government dignitaries and royalty over the years, including The Prince of Wales (who later became King George V).
Upon arrival, get settled into your accommodations, and then prepare to discover a unique five-star experience for the next four days to follow. In the late afternoon, enjoy an expertly guided tour of the Castle & and its grounds. This evening gather for an elegant group dining experience at the George V restaurant in Ashford Castle (Gentlemen are requested to wear a jacket/tie is optional but please pack one just in case). TASTE GALWAY ON A FOOD & GIN TOUR
Following breakfast, depart the hotel on a Make Travel Matter Signature experience – enjoy an expertly guided fun-filled exploration into the coastal town of Galway, a thriving, bohemian & cultural city. The city is a joy to explore with its labyrinthine cobbled streets, colorful shop facades and charming cafes and bar culture, and provides the perfect mix of vibrancy and quiet charm. We will taste our way through this city’s impressive repertoire of seasonal sweet and savory food tastings, and sip drinks while nibbling on tastes from different local artisans and eateries, all while enjoying Galway’s legendary frivolity.
This afternoon, we will continue onward to the historic Galway City Distillery, to learn the process of distillation and production of Galway’s Gin, from the botanicals used, and the bottling and keg packaging and master blending. Learn the basics of taste and flavor, along with how to build, construct and choose a blended-recipe from the many botanicals available with seasonal foraged ingredients. While everyone waits for their gin to start distilling, enjoy some Gin & Tonics or cocktails. Once the distillate has processed and been captured in individual containers, it is blended down with pure water to the desired alcohol percentage, bottled and sealed (guests may purchase their bottled creations to take along with you).
Return to the Castle in the late afternoon to freshen up. This evening gather for a group dining experience at either Cullens Cottage or the Dungeon Restaurant conveniently located within the Castle. Overnight accommodations in Castle Corrib Lake View King Bed Rooms.

SECRET CONNEMARA & ARAN ISLANDS
After breakfast this morning, we will depart the hotel for a marvelous group experience to the Aran Islands – a Make Travel Matter Signature experience. The Aran Islands are three rocky isles guarding the mouth of Galway Bay, in western Ireland. Known for their unique culture and language, as well as their ancient sites and mystic lore, including their breathtaking landscape made up of rugged limestone formations, we will explore ancient stone walls and fortresses while taking in spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. The Oscar nominated and 2023 Golden Globe Award Winner for Best Motion Picture, The Banshees of Inisherin, was filmed on location here.
We will depart Galway by ferry for the journey across the ocean (approximately 90-minutes each way). A true Irish experience awaits, where locals speak Irish (as well as English) in a setting of Celtic churches of historical significance including World Heritage site Dun Aonghasa which is set on a dramatic 300 ft cliff edge. Because of its Celtic and Christian heritage, The Aran Islands have an unusually high number of ruins and sacred sites. The “Island of Saints and Scholars” as it is also referred as, has historically centered around Celtic and Christian pilgrimage. Just by exploring or being on the Aran Islands, it is believed that one is on a path to connecting with their spiritual inner-self and being ‘blessed’ by the Irish spirit.
We will discover much more, including local traditions art, on this 4-hour on-land tour. We will explore on our off-road adventure to renowned locations including the famous Red Bull Diving site. You will also meet the owners of a local hand-harvested seaweed company called Bláth na Mara. As a group you will enjoy a traditional ‘Aran-island style,’ lunch including freshly-caught seafood and Aran goats’ cheese. Afterwards, we will visit an Aran Sweater making studio to learn about this beautiful art-form through a local knitter’s eyes, with insights into diverse styles and the symbolism behind the various designed patterns. We will depart the Aran Islands by ferry crossing back to the mainland of Galway, with memories forever imprinted in your heart of these sacred Irish floating gems.
Upon arrival back at the Castle, relax and freshen up. This evening gather for a group finale dining experience in Ireland, at either Cullens Cottage or the Dungeon Restaurant conveniently located within the Castle. Overnight accommodations in Castle Corrib Lake View King Bed Rooms.

We are privileged to be given the opportunity for our guests to experience its former glory infused with its current-day magnificent restoration. Dating back to 1228, Ashford Castle now enters a new chapter in its history, as part of The Red Carnation Hotel Collection, and has been recognized as a prestigious Forbes five-star hotel. The Red Carnation Hotel Collection will proudly open the doors of this extraordinary hotel in Scotland in early 2024, to visitors for the first time. The original building and its iconic features will be respectfully renovated, transforming it into an exclusive retreat on Edinburgh’s most famous street. With uninterrupted views of Edinburgh Castle, 100 Princes Street will replicate the boutique atmosphere of its London sister property in our collection, Hotel 41. Led by the design team behind the iconic Ashford Castle in Ireland – Toni Tollman, Philippe Bonino and Brian Brennan – this restoration will look to protect and retain the original heart and soul of 100 Princes Street. Inspired by Alexander McQueen, the design team sought to create a sense of place, working with local artisans to create bespoke pieces. These custom interior design features will include tartan designed by Araminta Campbell and a central staircase which features a hand-painted mural by Croxford & Saunders, honoring the adventures of several great Scottish explorers. In celebration of the beautiful city of Edinburgh, the heritage of Scotland, and the exclusive address of the former Overseas League, 100 Princes Street is inspired by the rich history of the many great Scottish explorers and adventurers who made this historic building their ‘home away from home’.

Thirdhome Adventures reserves the right to modify, change or cancel itinerary accommodations and/or alter tour routing and operations, if conditions beyond our control and that of our travel partners who operate our journeys, require such alterations thereof due to any unforeseen circumstances.
Any traveler that elects not to purchase travel insurance, agrees to release Thirdhome and its tour operation partners from liability for any loss of funds incurred due to the cancellation of a specific Thirdhome Adventure as a result of, but not limited to, an act of God, a failure to purchase travel insurance, the cessation of business with respect to a tour operator/ground operator partnered services, and/or the failure of a tour operator/ground operator to refund consumer deposits or payments following the cancellation of a Thirdhome Adventure or a material failure to complete the operation of any Thirdhome Adventure.
