We begin our extraordinary African journey with an arrival night into Johannesburg and then onward into the magnificent Chobe National Park located in Botswana.

Sanctuary Retreats operates some of the finest lodges and safari camps in spectacular surroundings throughout Southern and East Africa. Founded in 1999, the company’s philosophy – “Luxury, Naturally” – is evident with the focus on providing its guests with adventurous safari experiences in luxurious surroundings. Sanctuary Retreats has a strong commitment to environmental conservation and responsible tourism. Local materials and skills are used to construct all its lodges, built according to local architectural and cultural standards. It is this combination of outstanding accommodation in magnificent settings, excellent service, adventurous activities and dedication to the environment that has made Sanctuary Retreats’ lodges some of the most desirable properties in the world. Sanctuary Retreat’s Chobe Chilwero Lodge borders the elephant rich Chobe National Park in northern Botswana, known as one of the best wildlife parks of Africa. In a peaceful setting on a hill above the Chobe River, the lodge offers unparalleled panoramic views across the islands and floodplains as far as Namibia. The Wildlife of Chobe National park is unique, as it is explored with 4×4 vehicles inland and also along the water banks of the Chobe River. Chobe National Park is renowned for its abundant ecosystem and wildlife where one can encounter large elephant herds, and also herds of wild buffalo, elegant antelope, statuesque giraffe, feisty hippo, amazing birdlife and exhilarating predators such as lions, cheetahs and hyenas. Enjoy an intimate lodge experience at Chilwero Lodge with only 15 luxury cottages that showcase indoor and outdoor showers, each with its own private garden and patio area, along with all the comfortable amenities of the Lodge’s shared public lounge and dining areas.

EXPERIENCE #2: ZIMBABWE’S VICTORIA FALLS

Our second marvelous stop on this Adventure will be to the breathtaking Victoria Falls located on the Zimbabwe side, for the ultimate viewing opportunities and perfect picture moments.

Victoria Falls River Lodge rests gracefully on the banks of the Zambezi River, in close proximity to the majestic Victoria Falls—celebrated as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and designated an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Slumber in luxury Riverside Tents and be captivated by the serenity and beauty of its location along the Zambezi River. Set along the banks of the majestic Zambezi River, deep within the Zambezi National Park, Victoria Falls River Lodge presents exceptional wildlife viewing experiences and convenient access to the historic town of Victoria Falls. Its prime location not only allows for unforgettable visits to the renowned Falls but also invites exploration of this awe-inspiring natural wonder by foot or by water. Marvel at the Falls on a guided tour; and enjoy game drives into the Zambezi National Park, along with sunset and sunrise voyage safaris along the river to track elephants, black rhinos, hippos, cheetahs, lions, zebra and more!

EXPERIENCE #3: KRUGER NATIONAL PARK – SABI SABI GAME RESERVE

Our third exciting stop on this Adventure entails a flight journey from Victoria Falls to Kruger National Park and then a ground transfer into the Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve.

Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge is a safari haven introducing symbolizing a new era in luxury South African safari lodges – sculpted into a slope of the earth, almost invisible from its surroundings, the lodge uses texture, light and space to present a lodge like no other. It has been described as the most environmentally friendly lodge in Southern Africa. Just arriving at the Earth Lodge is a spectacular experience – it lies sunken into a slope of the earth, making it a surrealistic point of entry to your Sabi Sands safari experience. Its earthly architecture makes clever use of texture, space and light. Earth Lodge is a modern mix of water and earth, cool and warm tones of natural fibers with luxurious African style decor and a completely unusual safari vibe: in some ways the property is futuristic and in others, a stone-age cave. Led by expert guides, you will explore daily the landscape on foot and in 4×4 vehicles to discover the remarkable Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve. Considered the most famous private game reserve of all and the best place to see leopard in the World, it offers a safari experience found nowhere else in the world. Game viewing possibilities are simply unparalleled, including the much sought after “Big 5” and more. Because there are no fences between Kruger National Park and Sabi Sands Game Reserve, wildlife roams freely in a huge natural environment playground of preservation and conservation.
