This is a private THIRDHOME small-group tour with a maximum occupancy of 19. Our group size is kept small, allowing this Adventure to be a more engaging and rewarding experience for participants. Who Can Participate

To experience this unique destination, you will need to be able to participate in physical activities such as longer walking tours, walking over uneven terrain, climbing stairs and various time-period lengths of standing (between 1-2 hrs). You can navigate hills and uneven ground, climb onboard various modes of transportation (tuk-tuk/rickshaw, cable car, camel, etc), and adapt to changes in elevation. You can expect some longer days with your expert guide team, balanced with free time to recharge or set out on your own to explore as you wish. Some of the touring days may be longer, with select included group activities in addition to occasional meals with your group.

ARRIVAL INTO CAIRO – TOUR BEGINS
Your adventure starts in Cairo, the capital of Egypt – feel as if you’ve stepped back into another time as you enter a world of legends, relics, and indescribable beauty. Eons of history and iconic wonders, mouthwatering bites of savory cuisine, and stretching sunsets fading against the desert horizon – discover the essence of Egypt and Jordan. Upon arrival at the group hotel, begin exploring Cairo on your own (depending on your flight arrival time). Located strategically along the banks of the Nile, generations of wanderers have traversed its vibrant city streets, beckoning you now to join in their footpaths. CAIRO – ANCIENT HISTORY & ART
After breakfast, spend the morning with a fascinating Egyptologist for a lecture on ancient Egypt. Your look into the past continues at the Egyptian Museum, to view a collection featuring some of the area’s oldest artifacts. Late afternoon you will have some free time. CAIRO & GIZA PYRAMIDS EXPLORATION
After breakfast, venture out on a full-day exploration to nearby Giza and embrace the Egypt you have always imagined at the iconic Pyramids. Stand in awe before the Pyramids of Giza, one of the seven ancient wonders of the world. Continue onward to marvel at the Great Sphinx’s stoicism, a colossal structure jutting out of the desert sand, full of mystery and intrigue. Return back to Cairo to relax or enjoy the evening as you wish. Overnight accommodations at the Kempinski Nile Hotel Garden City. (Breakfast included)
FRIDAY, MARCH 5, 2021
FLY TO ASWAN & EMBARK ON NILE RIVER CRUISE
After breakfast depart the hotel to the local airport, for a 2-hour flight to Aswan, a breathtaking port city up the Nile. You may choose to partake in an optional tour to Abu Simbel Temple (refer to Premium Experience Add-On details below) and see the extraordinary temples of Ramses II relocated there during the construction of the High Dam. For those not exploring the Abu Simbel Temple, this afternoon discover the mysteries of the ancient Philae’s temple. Located on a small island, you will journey by motorboat on the Nile. Afterwards everyone meets to begin embarkation on The Sonesta St George, your home for the next three nights. Late afternoon the ship will glide along the Nile, as you enjoy tea on the deck and watch the Egyptian sunset paint the landscape in gorgeous hues as you slowly drift down the river. After a captain’s welcome cocktail and dinner, connect with Egypt’s culture at an ancient Nubian show. Overnight in Aswan on-board The Sonesta St George ship in Deluxe Cabin accommodations. KOM OMBU – EDFU – ESNA ON THE NILE
This morning wake to a beautiful new landscape while enjoying breakfast. Coast along on the Nile to Kom Ombo and visit a rare ancient double temple. Continue onward along the river and enjoy lunch. Stop to explore the mesmerizing Temple of Edfu, dedicated to the ancient God Horus and serving as one of Egypt’s best-preserved temples. Continue onward to Esna, where our group will enjoy dinner on-board followed by a festive Galabeya Party. It is a tradition on Nile River Cruises to have a party honoring how the ancient Egyptians dressed for festival celebrations, in which one buys and wears a Galabeya, a traditional Egyptian gown. SUNDAY, MARCH 7, 2021
LUXOR – WEST & EAST BANKS
In the morning following breakfast, the ship sails towards Luxor’s West Bank, where you will explore the elaborate tombs in the Valley of the Kings & Queens. Delve even further into Egyptian legends with an exclusive viewing of the tombs of King Tutankhamun and Ramses VI. Continue on the river with a visit to a local farm nestled along the banks of the Nile. At the farm, discuss this Egyptian way of life between sips of freshly brewed tea. After lunch on-board, this afternoon choose to either behold the Luxor Temple, a creation of kings Amenhotep III and Ramses II -OR- admire incomparable views of the Nile while you enjoy high tea at the Old Winter Palace which hosted esteemed guests such as Winston Churchill, Agatha Christie, and the great Egyptologist Howard Carter, who discovered King Tut’s tomb here. This evening, enjoy the sound and light show at Karnak Temple. Return to the ship to enjoy a late evening belly-dancing performance. DISEMBARK CRUISE – AMMAN, JORDAN
Following breakfast, say goodbye to the land of the pyramids as you fly from Luxor to Amman, the capital of Jordan. Get a peek into this innovative city housing both modern technologies and ancient relics before getting settled into the group hotel. Tonight’s dinner will be a treat – nibble and taste authentic Middle Eastern street food specialties as you walk through the marketplaces. Return to the group hotel for overnight accommodations at the Amman Marriott Hotel. (Breakfast on ship; Dinner in Amman)

WADI RUM & PETRA EXPLORATION
MAR 9 – This morning enjoy breakfast and set out to explore this extraordinary region. You will journey across Jordan all the way to the south as you leave Amman for the isolated desert of Wadi Rum. Nicknamed the Valley of the Moon, this ethereal landscape resembles nothing found on earth. Cruise through the reserve on an open-air vehicle tour. Enjoy lunch at a local camp before venturing onward to the extraordinary and fabled “Rose Red City” of Petra. Inhabited since prehistoric times, Petra is an archaeological wonder. Half built and have carved, Petra combines ears of various architectural styles all emerging out of its rock bed. The city served as a crossroads between The Red Sea and The Dead Sea and has been a part of trade routes since its creation. In the evening, our group will stroll down the street to an authentic Arabic cooking class. We will roll up our sleeves and prepare an authentic family-style meal, featuring fresh ingredients from local markets and traditional Jordanian recipes. Return to the hotel for an indulging “Chocolate Hour” – a Movenpick Hotels & Resorts tradition available to guests each day, showcasing a delightful selection of chocolate handmade specialties to enjoy complimentary. MAR 10 – Following breakfast, step out to further explore Petra! Weave along sandstone carvings as you tour the archaeological site of Petra with your expert guide. Stand within its mysticism, intrigue and wonderment as you explore the city which also houses tombs and temples carved by the Nabataeans in the 4th century B.C. Petra contains ages of hidden wonders just waiting to be discovered. Enjoy leisure time in the late afternoon and evening to explore the area further on your own if you wish or relax at the resort and spa. THE DEAD SEA & EXCURSION TO MADABA
MAR 11 – After breakfast this morning, our group will depart the hotel and journey towards The Dead Sea. En route, you will have the wonderful opportunity to connect with the local community at a women’s rug weaving cooperative, where you’ll be able to peruse the rugs designed in traditional styles. Continue onward and arrive at your hotel in the Dead Sea and take advantage of the surreal vistas and gain access to the healing properties of this legendary sea. Enjoy a soak, swim and relax before our group dinner and possibly indulge yourself at “Chocolate Hour”. Overnight at the Movenpick Dead Sea Resort & Spa. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)
MAR 12 – Following breakfast this morning, depart on a guided tour of Madaba. Get a glimpse into the foundation of Christian reverence at Bethany Beyond the Jordan, the venerated site of Jesus Christ’s baptism. In Madaba, delve deep into St. George’s Church and its famous Byzantine mosaics. Then, connect with an inspiring native who encourages literacy through his bookstore. At the store, you’ll enjoy a traditional farewell lunch cooked by locals as you chat with the philanthropic entrepreneur, discussing Arabic literature and culture. A stop en route back to your hotel will offer stunning views and time to reflect upon the Promised Land at Mount Nebo. This evening allows you some free time to relax or dine out on your own. DEPARTURE FROM AMMAN
Depart the hotel this morning after breakfast for group ground transportation back to Amman International Airport (time to be determined). Although your epic adventure has come to close, may it provide you a lifetime of many fond memories while having gained a new understanding of these mystical ancient lands. Abu Simbel Temple Excursion | $450 per person | Duration: 6 Hours – Venture out on this optional tour to Abu Simbel Temple to marvel at the extraordinary temples of Ramses II relocated there during the construction of the High Dam. Explore the great sun temples of Abu Simbel, built by Ramses II at the height of his New Kingdom reign. In one of the world’s greatest cooperative preservation efforts, these temples were dismantled and moved in 1968 to save them from the flooding of the Aswan Dam. The Temple of Ramses II was constructed so that the sun’s rays would illuminate four statues of Egyptian deities within the sanctuary on his birthday and on the anniversary of his coronation. The Temple is fronted by four colossal figures of Ramses II, seated with the Gods and attended by his Queen and daughters. The smaller temple is dedicated to Queen Nefertari, who was the first of Great Royal Wives, the Goddess of Love, Joy & Fertility. Please Note: This excursion requires being booked no later than Final Payment date (120-days prior), with a minimum of 10 people to operate. Transportation is included to/from The Temple to ship.

THIRDHOME strongly recommends that all travelers purchase travel insurance prior to participating in a THIRDHOME Adventure and that all such insurance be purchased when a tour deposit is made. THIRDHOME travelers can purchase travel insurance through (1) the THIRDHOME preferred provider Allianz Travel or (2) the traveler’s insurance provider of choice. THIRDHOME will require proof of such travel insurance protection when a tour deposit is made.
Any traveler that elects not to purchase travel insurance, by either of the above means, agrees to release THIRDHOME from liability for any loss of funds incurred due to the cancellation of a specific THIRDHOME Adventure as a result of, but not limited to, an act of God, a failure to purchase travel insurance, the cessation of business with respect to a tour operator/ground operator, the failure of a tour operator/ground operator to refund consumer deposits or payments within 120 days following the cancellation of a THIRDHOME Adventure or a material failure to complete performance of a THIRDHOME Adventure.
