This Golden Era of India Adventure is a private small-group tour with an occupancy of only 16-19 participants.  On this active, immersive journey, travelers will connect with the local culture of India in an authentic and more intimate way. Our group size is kept small, allowing this India Adventure to be a more engaging and rewarding unique experience.

Activity Level

Level 3: To experience this unique destination, you will need to be able to participate in physical activities such as longer walking tours, trekking and walking over uneven terrain, climbing stairs, and various time-period lengths of standing (between 1-2 hrs) alongside an expert team of guides. You can climb onboard various modes of transportation (ex: rickshaw, cable car, camelback/horseback, off-road vehicles, zodiac or small exploration boats, etc), and adapt to changes in elevation. You can expect some longer active days with included group activities, balanced with some leisure time to relax and explore as you wish. In addition, you’ll enjoy gathering with your adventure participants for occasional group meals on set days, along with the flexibility to experience the local dining scene on your own within the destination.

3-NIGHT DUBAI ADVENTURE ADD-ON

Begin your India Adventure with a pre-tour Dubai extension exploration. See one of the world’s fastest-growing and most intriguing cities. With its many famous man-made structures, Dubai is a must-see destination for any traveler. Enjoy magnificent views of the world-famous Burj Al Arab hotel. See the Jumeirah Mosque and Dubai Creek. View the Al Bastakia old wind-towered houses built by wealthy merchants. Stop at Al Fahidi Fort, now the Dubai Museum. Travel by abra (a traditional water taxi) on a scenic journey across Dubai’s channel. Stroll through the spice and gold souks, the colorful bazaar markets. Embark on an exciting desert safari and ride aboard luxury 4×4 vehicles over rolling sand dunes through the Dubai desert. Arrive at a Bedouin desert campsite to explore the dunes further on camelback, and feast under the stars while you enjoy a belly dancing performance. DEPART DELHI – JOURNEY TO JAIPUR

After breakfast, depart Delhi and journey along a scenic route through the countryside into Jaipur, the “Pink City.” En route, stop for lunch at a lovely local restaurant before arriving into Jaipur. Our first exploration within this extraordinary city will be at the Hawa Mahal, the former home of a maharaja (Indian royal prince). Marvel at the architectural brilliance of Jaipur as you stroll through the heart of the Old City. Walk the perfumed aisles of a flower market, where garlands are created for traditional Indian ceremonies. Late afternoon check-into the group hotel, with the remainder of the evening at leisure to explore on your own or relax. JAIPUR AMBER FORT & SPICE MARKET

Enjoy breakfast this morning and head out with your local guide for an extensive exploration of the Amber Fort and its palace complex. We will journey to the palace by means of a vintage jeep, scaling the hills overlooking Jaipur. This afternoon, experience the vibrancy and aromas of the Jaipur Spice Market on a guided walk through this culinary mecca. JAIPUR CITY PALACE & FREE TIME

This morning after breakfast, depart the hotel with your guide and set out to explore the beautiful City Palace of Jaipur, along with nearby sites. Marvel at the impeccable masonry of the Jantar Mantar – the world’s oldest stone sundial. Return to your hotel to relax if you wish; or stay out in the city to continue further exploring on your own. DEPART JAIPUR – JOURNEY TO RANTHAMBORE NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, depart with our guide for a scenic journey into the vast region of Ranthambore National Park. Upon arrival join a naturalist guide and seek out to encounter the regal tigers in their natural habitat of the Park. Learn why these elusive magnificent creatures are revered and an unending sacred fascination in India. Delve into Project Tiger’s conservation efforts and the impact the organization has had on the Ranthambore sanctuary. Continue with our naturalist guide who will introduce us to India’s varied extensive wildlife found within this beautiful landscape. Late afternoon check-in to our group hotel and relax. TIGER & WILDLIFE SAFARI DRIVES – RANTHAMBORE NATIONAL PARK

Enjoy the morning with breakfast. Afterward, depart the hotel with your local guide to explore deeper into Ranthambore National Park. Surrounded by deep forests and scattered ruins, board a canter (open-air truck) and view barking deer, Indian gazelles, and exotic birdlife as you follow the tigers’ paths in search of the sanctuary’s renowned wildlife. Then, it’s your choice- choose to return back to the hotel and relax – OR – visit Dastkar Ranthambore, a social enterprise dedicated to providing employment and training for local artisans. In the afternoon, return to the park’s wonderful habitat for another wildlife safari opportunity to watch for marsh crocodiles, sloth bears, hyenas, and of course the famous tigers. JOURNEY TO AGRA

Following breakfast, depart Ranthambore with our guide to journey by train to Agra, coasting through tunnels and around bends as you follow the rails to Agra, a city rich with the splendors of the past. Home to stone forts and marble mausoleums, a variety of old and new culture comes alive here. Along the route, stop for a local lunch to get another taste of authentic cuisine. After check-in into the group hotel, either relax or enjoy some free time in Agra to explore its lively ambiance and picture-perfect architecture. EXPLORE AGRA & THE TAJ MAHAL

Following breakfast this morning, depart the hotel with our guide to explore the city of Agra. We begin with the Taj Mahal, a stunning vision of white marble and sandstone, built as an expression of love by Emperor Shah Jahan. Experience the romantic spirit of this breathtaking architectural masterpiece in the early morning, when the colors of the sky dance on the bright facade and shimmer in its reflective pool – and you will see why it is one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Afterward, we will visit the Agra Fort, the seat of the Mughal Empire. Afterward we relax our feet, to enjoy lunch at Sheroes’ Hangout – a café that empowers female survivors of violence, allowing them to reclaim their lives and livelihoods through employment and sisterhood. JOURNEY TO KHAJURAHO

Following breakfast this morning, check-out of your hotel for a scenic train ride to Khajuraho. In the shadow of the Vindhya mountain range, we will encounter a city of stone temples and mystifying sculptures. Check-in at our group hotel, and enjoy a lunch in a local establishment. Afterward begin exploring at your leisure this remarkable city with recommendations from your guide. This evening gather for a group dinner at the hotel. TEMPLE EXCURSION – JOURNEY TO VARANASI

Following breakfast this morning, explore with your guide the Chandela Temple and its palace complex, home to unparalleled royal architecture and intricate stone carvings. Afterward continue to the airport for a group flight to the city of Varanasi. Welcome to Varanasi – India’s holiest city – where spiritual energy radiates from the ground up. Check-into our group hotel and enjoy an a-la-carte lunch on your own. This afternoon we will embark on a short voyage, as we sail along the River Ganges on a memorable excursion and pass by the ghats (banks) where locals wade into the “river of offerings.” From the Dashashwamedh Ghat, enjoy a reserved seat to experience the spiritual awakening of a Ganga Aarti ceremony as it illuminates the night sky. VARANASI EXPLORATION

Enjoy an early morning breakfast, depart the hotel, and explore with your guide on a scenic boat ride for an opportunity to see the sunrise on the River Ganges. Travel to Sarnath, where Siddhartha Gautama – later known as Buddha – gave his first sermon in the 6th century B.C. Discover this holy site and gain insight into the country’s divine past. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon to relax or opt to continue exploring the city on your own. Celebrate your adventure through India alongside your newfound friends at a farewell dinner, and toast the end of your journey at a wonderful local restaurant. RETURN HOME (OR) CONTINUE ONWARD ON OUR NEPAL EXTENSION

Following breakfast this morning, check-out of your hotel for group flight back to Delhi, where a day-use room has been reserved for you to relax in before your international flight departure home at the Lemon Tree Premier Delhi Airport Hotel (OR) for those extending onward on our Nepal Adventure, after our return to Delhi, bid farewell to your fellow travelers who are returning home. This evening you will overnight in Delhi before getting a fresh start on your Nepalese adventure tomorrow morning. Overnight accommodations in Delhi at the airport hotel. (Breakfast included)

5-NIGHT NEPAL ADVENTURE ADD-ON

Continue onward after your India Adventure with a post-tour Nepal extension. Enjoy a sightseeing tour of the UNESCO Patan Durbar Square and its famous temple complex. Tour Kathmandu and Swoyambhuanth Stupa, and attend a private temple blessing ceremony. Visit ancient temples, including Pashupatinath Temple, the most important Hindu temple in Nepal. See Boudnath, a place sacred to Tibetan Buddhist pilgrims. Perhaps take an optional flightseeing tour of iconic Mount Everest, getting an aerial up-close look at the world’s highest peak. Take off by helicopter on an optional tour to Annapurna Base Camp, passing over breath-taking snow-capped mountains. Spend time in a Tibetan Refugee village, meandering along the handicraft shops while supporting the local people’s history and heritage. (Agra) Sunset Dinner Riverside overlooking the Taj Mahal| $60 per person | Duration: 3 Hours – Climb aboard your tuk-tuk or auto rickshaw. Your first stop is at the impressive Itmad-ud-Daula, a Mughal mausoleum tomb. This is the first mausoleum made completely of marble, the same kind that was used for the Taj Mahal. This monument may be smaller than the Taj Mahal, but it is just as remarkable and that is why it has been nicknamed the “Baby Taj.” The tomb is often described as a “draft” of the world-famous Taj Mahal. Continue on to behold the mysteriously beautiful Taj Mahal at sunset. You will stop at Mahtab Bagh – the “Moonlight Garden” on the banks of the Yamuna River opposite the Taj Mahal – for a picture-perfect view of the ornate white structure surrounded by the vibrant colors of the setting sun. Enjoy a memorable dinner with a view of River and the Taj Mahal in the distance.

The India Adventure deposit is non-refundable and adventure is fully non-refundable after final payment. This India Adventure requires a minimum of 16-19 people to operate at the price quoted. An increase in cost can occur if the trip operates with fewer participants.

The India Adventure Extensions are non-refundable. Extensions are subject to availability at the time of request with a paid adventure participant deposit. Flights for Extensions are not included in the land price; in addition any required tourist visas for Extension destinations are not included.
